Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.

In the end, we'll all love Big Brother

I pulled this story from the GoV Daily News Feed. The linked story links to several other stories, all related. Ex-Dissident posted about part of this a couple of days ago, but there's more information now.

Congress is now talking about cutting military funding by 25%, or $150B. What does Obama want to do with this previously-military funding? Create a Civilian National Security Force.

Wow. What?

Let's see. We have sheriffs at the county level. Local city police. We have State troopers. Some states, like Texas, have their own separate state police force (Rangers). Then there's the CIA, FBI, NSA, Federal Marshals, Air Marshals, post office investigators, ATF, the National Guard, the reserve military, the Coast Guard and the active duty military.

Add this to Obama's plan to require school children to serve 50-100 hours of mandatory community service. Then he wants to turn the (tax-funded)AmeriCorps funded Public Allies program into the Universal (sic)Voluntary Public Service. And for serving, he'll pay for your college. All of this sounds quite like 1984, but more recently, it's straight out of 'Rules for Radicals.' Get the children early and teach them the socialist way before their parents can teach them otherwise. Bill Ayers (yes, again) has spoken about this exact style plan.

The endgame here is simple. Even if Obama can't turn the country into a socialist workers' paradise, he can teach our children to create it.

It won't matter for very long though. After a couple of "voluntary retreats," we'll all love Big Brother.

Edit: WND is reporting that the change.gov page was changed from "require 50 hours..." to "set a goal of..." And they have screenshots.

He who controls the past, controls the future.

Very accurate assessment. Joan of Arghh made a very interesting comment on another site about this issue (thelineishere.org). She has had some experience working with a community service program and there is a very easy way to exploit this system. Essentially a sympathetic administrator can excuse someone from performing any duties, while selecting unpleasant manual labor duties for someone they are not sympathetic to. This way it can become a wealth redistribution system, eg. 4000$ off taxes or off tuition directed to some. Similarly it would be a very effective way to force people to behave in a way that will ensure the administrators of this program view them favorably. A massive social engineering project.

A 25% cut to our military seems odd, especially when our troops are engaged in battle overseas. I have another, rather odd, take on this story. It is just a gut feeling I had when I read this report. This is the same gut reaction I had when I first saw a headline about Obama's plan to solicit community service from children.

Anyway, I realize it seems contradictory, but I see this as a possible 2nd amendment infringement. Before you fall of your chair laughing, consider who among our citizens actually practices the second amendment. It is our military, when they are not on active duty or in retirement. If you decrease this population and weaken their training, you decrease the effectiveness of the protection the 2nd amendment affords us. Then enter the civilian security force. And who the hell knows exactly what Obama envisions with this force, but the only large domestic force we don't currently employ is something like the Praetorian guard-emperor's private army. Call it gestapo, secret death squads, whatever.

I don't know about you Folly, but the jury box over Obama's birth certificate is starting become pretty attractive at this point. Honestly, I agree with Charles of LGF, that this birth certificate search is a fools errand. However, the way I am starting to hope for a miracle.

The military cut I associate with a second amendment infringement makes no sense in the short term. However, consider long term effects of a weak and small American military. Who will be in a position to oppose the civil security force in a generation? We need a well trained military, who later become a well trained citizenry. They need to be young enough to be able to mount an effective fight to protect their liberty.

By now we all know Obama's contempt of the Constitution. Pro-Obama PBS ran a program last week debating the merits of replacing the Constitution.
The military is sworn to protect the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. He needs to weaken the existing military and disarm the populace while deveopling his own extra-constitutional military force.
But first and foremost he needs to silence the opposition--break their lines of communication.
The initial volley will include some version of the Fairness Doctrine and control of the Internet. Then it's off to the races.

@Talnik

The military enlisted and office oaths to say protect the constitution, but they also say to obey the orders of the President and officers appointed above them, in accordance with the UCMJ.

Oaths at Army.mil

This means that if there is a "socialist revolution" the military will have to decide if the orders from the President/officers are in accordance with the UCMJ.
