SCOTUS deciding if Obama has to produce original birth certificate

Just a quick post on the possible Obama citizenship issue on this article from over at Atlas Shrugs. I'm not going to offer much opinion as I am not a lawyer, but it looks as if the SCOTUS is giving Obama until 12/3 to respond to a Writ of Certiorari, which requires the concurrence of four Justices. The SCOTUS will decide if it needs to look at Obama's birth certificate at that time.

What's interesting is if the SCOTUS decides that he is not a "natural born citizen," then the electorate may be invalidated. There's no telling what may happen in that case.

I'll end it here because a lot of much smarter people have been discussing it over at Atlas Shrugs.

But go sign the petition. Do it now.

Edit: Honestly, there is some debate as to the veracity of the claims made by the lawyer (Berg) in this case. The only documents I can find on the SCOTUS site show denied applications for injunctions, but it doesn't look as if the Writ was denied (if you can do that). Remember, I am not a lawyer, and I don't even play one on TV. I don't understand why the Obama doesn't just produce the BC. He's causing even more furor with his silence.

I have found this question of whether The One is a natural born citizen interesting, and have not known what to make of it. My question all along has been, how could there not be a simple requirement at some point in the election process where any candidate for any office has to prove they meet the eligibility requirements? This seems mind-boggling.

That aside, I find The One's response to this question more telling than the question itself. This is a man who campaigned on hope and change while promising to bring unity to the country. His response does neither and he knows this. If there is nothing to hide, provide the birth certificate and be done with this issue, why continue the charade? What he did provide doesn't count and he knows this too. What this tells me is that this is a man who deems himself above the people not of the people, a man who does not have to respect the legitimate wishes of the people nor the laws of the land.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The simple solution is for SCOTUS to require him to produce the birth certificate, they'll find that he is indeed a natural born citizen and we can move on from there. Anything less will create a Constitutional crisis - which is never a good thing, particularly from someone who hasn't taken office yet.

I'm not getting wrapped around the axle on this and I would caution others to do the same. It seems to me that this is one instance that SCOTUS does have the responsibility and the duty to determine the truth of the matter. I hope they will do that. If they don't I guess the republicans in the Senate could demand the birth certificate before they accept the results of the electoral college. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Back to the promise of unity. I smell something fishy here. What reason would The One have for not providing the birth certificate and clearing up this issue? Why would he want anyone to doubt that he is eligible to be president? Answer: Because if anyone dares to challenge The One on this issue and forces him to prove his eligibility for president and then he does that; he will always then be able to point back to this issue and "the vast right-wing conspiracy" the next time someone challenges him about anything. Remember, this is a man who came up in politics through the Chicago Machine.

Hey, I'm trying to start a vast right-wing conspiracy. Want to help?

Already a member of that club with special racist and bitter clinger privileges.

See, these president qualification requirements don't apply to The One. He wasn't running for president he was running for 'Ruler'.
